RESEARCH

Our research focus is lifestyle-related chronic diseases, specifically heart disease, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and some types of cancer – ie such as skin cancer.

Chronic diseases are a major public health problem worldwide. In 2005, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that 61 per cent of all deaths — 35 million — and 49 per cent of the global burden of disease were attributable to chronic diseases. By 2030, the proportion of total global deaths due to chronic diseases is expected to increase to 70 per cent.

Together we can.

Support Programs For The Research

We support PHD Scholars and Visiting Research Fellows who demonstrate commitment to new research, We believe this focus will inspire our next generation of research leaders here in South Australia, to ensure (for example) students make the most of their studies, achieve their potential and contribute to South Australia’s knowledge and research base.

Together we can!

Through our work, we enhance better health, quality of living and strengthen communities.
